Ran over a seal and called it a day - Surfboardfishing 080220
Came off a floater, after a deep cutback, looked, and see a seal popping his head up right in my line of fire back to the beach. I had the momentum and height, and it struck me as how large he/she was when I began to pounce down the crashing wave, and I contemplated why this seal was so close to the beach and in shallow water. It didn't matter though....I rammed the nose of my board forward, skeg cutting deep, I had no choice.
The waves were folding up at the last second. You had to be ready, cause a peak would pop up in front of you at the last second and pound you into the drink. No more board. you are eating reef.
Much birds diving, seals hoping, and small tiny bait-fish in the lineup. I casted a few lures but nothing bit, only one small pull. I called it day and ended my surf-board-fishing-surf-session on the seal note. The sharks are around!
